Lab/Exam

So, the other day, I guess yesterday, we got our copper dried off, and it looked more like I would expect copper to look.

I don't know why, but it was cool to think that this came exclusively from the liquid the nail was submerged in, and the missing bit of the nail became part of the liquid it was sitting in. I'm a bit of a nerd, not because I'm smart (which I'm not) but because of the stuff I think is cool. I wonder if there are any two gasses you could mix together to make a solid... I'm sure it's possible, but I don't have the drive to figure out which ones at the moment. Hydrogen and CO2? Idk, that probably wouldn't work with the reactivity series or something. Also, as a sidenote, we took our stoichiometry unit exam today. I was confident about stoichiometry, right up until I tried to do the first problem. I really need to get that fixed in my head.

  1. I think that this lab was pretty interesting and you make a good point when you say that it's interesting that the liquid became the solid and the solid became a liquid. As for mixing gasses to make a solid, I'm pretty sure that that doesn't happen, however I may be wrong. That would be a good question to pose to Mrs. Frankenberg.
